It started with a birthday party...

It is incredible how one small idea can grow into something truly special. Our organization's roots trace back to David Bucksot's prom-themed birthday party. After observing the joy his friends experienced – some for the first time, others rediscovering it authentically as themselves – David was eager to share this transformative experience of an adult prom with the wider New Bern community. With the help of friends, he brought his vision to life on a grand scale, creating the first New Bern Pride Prom. 
 

The resounding success of the first New Bern Pride Prom propelled creating an organization that can provide a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community in Eastern North Carolina year-round by offering support groups and events for people to attend. 
 

Since our official establishment in 2023, we have taken pride in witnessing the positive impact of our activities on the New Bern community and beyond.
