About the event
Join us on June 13, 2026, at the Riverfront Convention Center in Craven County for an all-ages Vendor Fair and our 18+ Pride Prom. Whether you missed your chance to attend prom or want to relive the magic, this night is for you. This is New Bern Pride’s largest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds support year-round programming and our long-term goal of opening an LGBTQIA+ community center.
🛍️ Vendor Fair (4:30–6:30 PM) – Open to all ages, no ticket required. Stop by before prom to shop and support local vendors.
🪩 Pride Prom (7:00–11:00 PM) – A fun, high-energy evening with drinks, dancing, and more. Please eat dinner beforehand, as only light snacks will be available. Complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, including tea and lemonade, will also be provided.
FYI - All Vendor Fair vendors will also be set up during prom, so there’s no need to choose between attending both.
🔍 FAQ
Why do we need to fundraise?
Proceeds from Pride Prom support year-round programming and our long-term goal of opening an LGBTQIA+ community center. Currently, we are operating at a break-even point and are seeking grants, donors, and additional fundraising support to achieve this goal. For transparency, below is a breakdown of our nonprofit's annual budget.
Prom Costs: $16,000
Other Events: $4,200
Operating Expenses: $7,600
Payroll: $0
Will there be food and drinks?
Yes, but the exact food is still to be decided. However, please note that it will only be light snacks or desserts — so have dinner before you arrive! A full bar will be available, and we will also offer a limited selection of free non-alcoholic drinks such as tea or lemonade.
What should I wear?
While we don’t have a dress code or even an official theme, we do have a visual we're embracing this year — a night under the stars. Think disco ball reflections, deep navy skies, silver shimmer, warm string lights, rainbow glow, and that cinematic “last song of the night” energy.
That said, wear whatever makes you feel fabulous. Come dressed in a way that makes you feel confident, comfortable, and fully celebrated.
I don't have anyone to go with, should I still attend?
Absolutely! We will have a "No One Proms Alone" table with games and conversation starters. This space is for anyone looking to meet new people, connect, and enjoy the night with friendly faces.
Will I need to provide an ID? What if my name is different on the ID?
Yes, New Bern Pride Prom is an 18+ event, so ID is required at the door. We understand that ID names don't always match how you identify. If your name differs from your ID’s, no worries! Just let our check-in team know what name you’d like to be called, and we’ll make sure you’re addressed correctly.
What security protocols will be in place?
Bag checks conducted upon entry
Colored wristbands issued to all attendees at check-in
Roaming security throughout the venue
Security stationed at all entry and exit points
NBPD presence for the duration of the event
Escorts to vehicles available upon request
Event photos will be password-protected
All volunteers will be identified by lanyards
NBP Board members will be identified by sashes
AED and medical kit will be clearly visible and accessible in case of emergency
BLS-certified individual will be on site
Will there be sponsored tickets available?
Yes — we’re honored to offer Kai Memorial Fund Tickets again to help community members who might not otherwise be able to attend Pride Prom. These tickets are made possible through a special donation from the family of Kai, a young woman who chose to live authentically and attended her last high school prom as her true, beautiful self. In 2024, Kai lost her battle with depression — a struggle that too many LGBTQ+ youth face. Her family and loved ones raised funds in her memory to support causes that mattered to her, and we are deeply grateful that part of this support is helping ensure Pride Prom remains an inclusive and welcoming space for all.
If you or someone you know would benefit from a sponsored ticket, you can request one here.
If you’d like to contribute to the Kai Memorial Fund, please reach out to treasurer@newbernpride.com — every contribution helps us make sure no one has to sit this one out.
Why do we have Early Bird and Last Call ticket pricing?
Early Bird tickets help us pay off our venue deposit as quickly as possible, while Last Call tickets increase in price two weeks before prom to encourage people not to wait until the last minute. We aim to finalize guest information for the venue and caterer. While we can sell tickets up until the event, having final numbers two weeks in advance helps us plan accordingly.
