Join us for The Laramie Project Reception, a pre-show gathering for reflection and connection before the opening performance at New Bern Civic Theatre. Learn more about the play, the importance of Pride in New Bern, and what New Bern Pride is currently doing in the community. A dinner buffet, music, informational tables, and other activities will be available.
The New Bern Civic Theatre production depicts the aftermath of the murder of gay college student Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming. The Laramie Project was created in response to that tragedy. This play that examines how hate can take a hold of a community, and how we choose to respond.
What happened in Laramie could happen anywhere. That’s why New Bern Pride exists: to create a community where it doesn’t.
